Abilities that use Dexterity
- Athletics: The athletic ability will help you to be a faster and stronger character. Any time you are trying to jump, fight, or run. You will use this ability.
- Slight of Hand: Slight of hand encompasses a couple things. First stealing from people and breaking locks. This ability also is how good you are at looking around an area and finding the most loot possible. If you want to check the area looking for more items or what's in a certain place then you would use Slight of Hand.
- Stealth: Being able to follow someone or sneak into areas without being detected.
Abilities that use Willpower
- Fortitude: Your mental capability to withstand pressure situation. Whether traveling through a blistering hot desert or see your pokemon get taken away from you. How do you face adversity? Fortitude is also what allows you to go first in battle. If you have a strong mind then you have a quick mind in battle and if your pokemon ties for the highest speed then fortitude comes in next to decide order. If Fortitude ties with another you roll to see who goes first.
- Leadership: The ability to rally the people around you to get them to do what you need. This can be a big group or an individual. This can also give boosts to your team before a battle. Leadership can only be used on humans and not on pokemon.
- Medicine: Having the ability to heal your pokemon without a potion or revive is huge. This is something that can change the landscape of a long battle. You can heal in or outside of battle and the difficulty will change depending on the health of your pokemon. Here is the list of the roll difficulties for medicine depending on your pokemons health.
- > Half Health = 1 Purple Dice
- < Half Health (not fainted) = 2 Purple Dice
- Fainted = 3 Purple Dice
You also are required to roll a triumph in order to revive your pokemon. Any additional successes equal the amount of health healed and the extra advantage give PP.
- Perception: Being aware of your surroundings is a very useful tool when traveling the world. This ability allows your to search your surrounding for people or even look for what they are holding or carrying. Perception only sees what is visably around you. Including finding open escapes or things not easily noticed.
Abilites that use Intelligence
- Cooking: The Pokemon World is full of great culture and delights. Keep your pokemon happy by giving them Poffins and baked goods. On a long journey, coming accross a shop that contains these isn't easy. Learn to make these and keep your team happy and health.
- Mechanics: Many times throught the Pokemon games you find your self turning off generators or fixing problems. Mechanics is the practical use with machine objects, but can also serve more. The most valuable item a trainer has is his pokeballs and there are many different types that have been created. The Mechanics ability allows you to create pokeballs using Appricorns.
- Navigation: Not always in the game is finding your way around the region as easy as looking at your Town Map. The speed at which you get to places and if you find the right things are determined by navigation. Including if you are sailing or flying around on your pokemon.
- Computers: Computers are a very real thing in the Pokemon world. If you are looking to hack into any computers to get you a tactical advantage, shut off cameras or unlock doors then you will need this skill.
- Battle Tactics: During battle you can look around your surroundings to find advantages for your pokemon, analyze the other pokemon, or even plan your attack before hand to make sure you have the best opportunity.
Abilites that use Wisdom
- Cool: When coming across Giovanni or the biggest legendary creature you will need to see how you handle the situation. Failure on a cool check can make the future checks against this person or pokemon more difficult.
- Herbology: Some of the most useful items in the game are the ones that are held by your pokemon. Berries are a main item that do that and telling which berries are good and what they do is based on your herbology.
- History: The knowledge to know past history of what has happened where you are. This can be very handy when talking to people from different locations or knowing a locations layouts before going. You may already know people that you meet along your way also.
- Insight: Perception is the ability to see your surrounding. Insight is what you can sense. Maybe it is a nearby presence or if someone is a person you can actually trust or not. insight can tell you what your eyes can't see.
- Survival: When out in the wild you will need the basic necesities. Building shelters, starting fires or even tracking people or pokemon will use survival.
Abilites that use Charisma
- Deception: Lying to people and getting them to believe you. One of the classic talents of an RPG.
- Negotiation: Don't like the prices at a mart? Try and convince them they are unreasonable and lower the price. Maybe the demands of someone you work with are unreasonable, negotiate.
- Persuasion: This is not lying, but getting people to do what you want. This is charisma at it's finest and trying to change their mind or get them to do something.
Abilites that use Type
Type abilities don't use one of your characteristics as their second stat. They use the type that corresponds with the pokemon that you are doing the check on. For example, if I am trying to tame a wild Pikachu then I would roll an Electric Taming check. If my Electric is 4 and my taming is 2 then the electric would give me 4 green dice and the taming ability would upgrade 2 of those dice to yellows. I would then roll 2 green and 2 yellow dice.
- Taming: If you run into a random pokemon, you have the ability to try and tame the pokemon. Successful and maybe you can catch the pokemon or even get it to fight for you for the time being. Great for those people trying to become Pokemon Rangers. Only use taming on pokemon that are not caught pokemon by the trainer.
- Training: The ability to train a caught pokemon to learn a move, improve a stat, or gain experience. Sometimes this will just cause boosts. Failure likely will be nothing or even hurting the pokemon. Training too much can cause loyalty to lower.
- Knowledge: If you run into a new pokemon and want to know more or even understanding more about your opponents pokemon require a knowledge check. This can give you battle advantages or help other checks like taming to know what it likes.
- Relationship: A trainer can test their relationship with their pokemon. If you need them to do something in your behalf, then you will have to roll a relationship check. Telling your pokemon to compete in beauty contests, act on a human or do something outside of their moves will require a relationship check.
- Riding: Flying somewhere, surfing on your pokemon or riding them to get somewhere faster requires a Riding check
